Today, sisters put the teeka on the forhead of their brothers with vermilion, sandal paste, roli or kumkum and pray for them. Brothers give gifts to their sisters. I have seen bubblegum brothers and sisters, doing the formalities, as if they have no time and spirit to evoke the emotional feelings, just 'la jaldi kar, mujhe apane doston ke sath jana hai, ya phir mein shaam ko teeka lagwa loonga'. In some cases the sisters demand hefty price for putting teeka on brother's forhead.
